Surprise for Labour Party Veteran
Cockerton West Councillor Cliff Hutchinson got the surprise of his life when the Prime Minister Tony Blair paid him a visit in Darlington.

The Labour stalwart has been a party member for over 65 years and an active Labour councillor for over 40 years, and was delighted to renew his friendship with Mr Blair.

The surprise was arranged by the town’s MP Alan Milburn during a conference at the Darlington football stadium.

Alan Milburn said: “Cliff has given so much to the Labour Party and Darlington over the years. He thoroughly deserved the recognition and it was wonderful to see the surprise on Cliff’s face.”
